"Sitting Is The New Smoking"

Ever wonder why so many “old” people end up walking around like the Hunchback of Notre Dame?

If you think it’s common now, just wait another 20 years, it’s likely to be 10x worse (and happen at a much younger age)

Why?

Because we condition our body to be in that position EVERY DAY.

Think about it.

Most people are on their phones, computers or tablets hours per day…

Especially since so many of us have the ability to work remotely these days.

Do yourself a favor, and freeze exactly where you’re at (yeah you, reading this on a device right now lol)

Where is your posture?

Do you have your head up, back straight, looking directly forward…

Or do you have your shoulders slightly forward, head over your chest, eyes looking downward?

The amount of unnecessary strain we put on our necks nowadays is like nothing we’ve experienced in human history.

The result?

Bad posture, headaches, brain fog, arthritis, and potentially all kinds of other serious organ diseases that can come from your spine being jacked up.

(Just because you workout, doesn’t mean you’re immune to this stuff)

Side note: I’m no medical professional, but I spent about 2 years working out of my business partners Chiropractic office. So naturally I learned all kinds of valuable lessons as a fly on the wall and practice member.

According to News-Medical Life Sciences:

“Researchers have analyzed a total of 13 publications and found that sitting for more than eight hours without any physical activity is associated with a mortality risk comparable to that caused by obesity and smoking.”

So whether sitting at a computer or just scrolling on your smart phone, you’re (unknowingly) putting tremendous strain on your neck and spine.

The long term results aren’t pretty…

If you’re like us, you believe it’s not how many years you live. It’s about the quality of the years you live.

That’s why you might consider getting an adjustable standing desk or a laptop stand with a keyboard.

Pro tip: Don’t just stand, don’t just sit. Alternate between the two. Movement is important.

This is my (Brian’s) set up at my co-working office.

This is our set up when we are at home:

[ Full transparency, I often have to set this up for Sarah because she’s quick to start working before prepping her space for optimal benefit. Sorry babe, throwing you under the bus for the good of the community. No hunchbacks over here 😉 ]

Getting the standing desk or laptop stand isn’t enough, because if you reach your hands up to the keyboard to type, it’s also messing up your posture and pulling your body forward (Hunchback of Notre Dame, remember?).

That’s why we also recommend also getting a mobile keyboard

So your arms and hands can be in a much better position for your posture.

We have the Zagg keyboard. It’s sturdy and easy to transport.

If we had to do it over again, we’d get the Zagg keyboard with the built in trackpad (instead of having to buy a separate mouse) like this:

There are lots of options when it comes to these type of set ups.

If you want to check out the standing desk we bought, you can check it out here (no affiliate link): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075JYG2TB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Bottom line - find an adjustable desk and keyboard you like, that’s in your price range, and pull the trigger.

The only thing more expensive than taking care of your health, is NOT taking care of it.

Think about it…

Your grandkids will admire the fact you took care of your body and can actually play with them.

Until next time, own what matters : )

P.S. If you don’t have an emergency fund with 6 months of living expenses saved…OR a separate account set up to acquire assets…we recommend you don’t buy what we just reviewed (yet). Instead, reply with the phrase “budgeting sucks” and we will get you access to a powerful app that allows you to put your cash flow on autopilot.

P.P.S. If you haven’t answered life’s most important question, anything else we talk about is irrelevant. So consider watching a few minutes or more of this: https://rb.gy/bw6r29
